The Role

 

SRG Global is seeking an experienced Technical Specialist – SSAN Equipment to join our Mining Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter to become the technical specialist responsible for the maintenance, repair and optimisation of Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) and Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate (SSAN) plant and equipment across our mining operations.

 

This role combines hands-on mechanical maintenance with technical leadership, providing specialist support to site teams to maximise equipment reliability, safety and operational performance. You will work closely with operational teams, OEMs and equipment suppliers to commission new equipment, resolve complex technical issues, and drive continuous improvement across SRG Global's specialised SSAN equipment fleet.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative, scheduled and breakdown maintenance on Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) and associated Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate (SSAN) plant and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults to maximise equipment reliability and minimise operational downtime.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute maintenance activities, including the management of parts, consumables and critical spare components.
  • Conduct testing, calibration and verification of MPU safety systems to ensure equipment operates safely and in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Support the commissioning of new and rebuilt equipment, ensuring assets are operationally ready for deployment.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to site maintenance teams while working collaboratively with OEMs and equipment suppliers to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work complies with company standards, legislative requirements and client expectations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency and overall asset performance.

 

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent).
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining Mobile Processing Units (MPUs) or equivalent explosive delivery equipment is essential.
  • Minimum five years' experience maintaining heavy mobile equipment within a mining environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Experience testing, calibrating and commissioning MPU safety systems in accordance with OEM requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide technical support and mentor site maintenance personnel.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance, with the ability to work independently across multiple mining operations.


Desirable:

  • Dangerous Good Security Licence
  • Heavy Rigid Drivers Licence
