About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Utilities division, supporting the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Working as part of an experienced project team, you will play a key role in coordinating engineering, construction and commercial activities across a range of multidisciplinary works. The projects will involve interfaces across areas including power, mechanical services, wastewater treatment, pump stations and pipelines.
Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will take ownership of key project packages, coordinate subcontractors and stakeholders, support planning and procurement activities, and help drive safe, efficient and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver project works in accordance with scope, budget, program and required construction methodologies.
- Identify and manage project risks, opportunities, variations and claims.
- Manage subcontractor performance, claims and contractual requirements.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and margins, identifying issues and corrective actions.
- Coordinate procurement, labour, plant and resources to support project delivery.
- Manage technical, quality and project documentation, including ITPs, inspections and handover.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors and project teams to resolve technical, commercial and scheduling issues.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with project safety requirements and procedures.
- Support environmental management and ensure compliance with project environmental requirements.
- Ensure project teams and subcontractors comply with relevant management plans, policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5-7 years as a Senior Project Engineer in the Construction Industry (Civil, Utilities and Water Infrastructure projects preferred).
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management
- Strong safety leadership capability.
- Effective verbal and written communication capability.
- High level of personal resilience and persistence.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent conflict resolution management skills.
- Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn, and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure,
- process, information, and/or technology.
- Excellent relationship building, problem solving, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Experience in estimation costing for projects and working to a budget.
- A sound understanding and knowledge of construction principles in a multi-disciplinary contracting environment.
- A sound level of business and commercial acumen backed by a sound ability to create, read, and interpret budgets, financial statements and analyse variance reports.
