The Role

As Senior Estimator, you will work alongside experienced industry professionals on large-scale bids, utilising your first principles estimating expertise to shape competitive submissions and help secure landmark projects across the state. Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed first principles cost estimates across labour, plant, materials and subcontractor scopes.
  • Develop competitive pricing strategies aligned to market conditions and project requirements.
  • Analyse construction methodologies and design options to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure estimates meet project and budget expectations.
  • Assess tender risks and opportunities and contribute to mitigation strategies.
  • Review and vet subcontractor and supplier quotations for compliance and value.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing movements and competitor activity to maintain competitive bids.
  • Support project teams with budget insights, cost control measures and commercial guidance.
  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to the ongoing development of the estimating function.
  • Ensure all tender submissions, estimate documentation and reporting are accurate, compliant and professionally presented.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil or infrastructure estimating, preferably within water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in first principles estimating is essential.
  • Strong proficiency with estimating software, ideally Pronamics Expert.
  • Experience working for local South Australian civil contractors will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, analytical and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders concurrently.
