Senior Asset Integrity Engineer

About the role:

 

SRG Global Asset Care is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Integrity Engineer to deliver specialist consulting engineering services across Fitness-for-Service assessments, brownfield plant modification and repair designs, and piping stress analysis for operating pressure equipment, piping systems and related infrastructure.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior practitioner with strong mechanical integrity, pressure equipment, design and consulting experience. Working with clients and internal technical teams, you will provide practical, compliant and risk-based engineering solutions for ageing and brownfield assets across oil and gas, mining power generation, water infrastructure and related industrial sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead and deliver Fitness-for-Service assessments in accordance with API 579 and BS 7910, including Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 assessments supported by finite element analysis where required.
  • Assess pressure equipment, piping, vessels, tanks and associated components for damage mechanisms, remaining life, operability and risk-based decision making.
  • Analyse and interpret inspection, corrosion and NDT data to support Fitness-for-Service assessments, remaining life evaluations and practical repair or remediation recommendations.
  • Develop and review brownfield mechanical engineering design solutions for plant modifications, repairs, alterations, rerating assessments and integrity improvements.
  • Execute piping stress analysis to assess flexibility, support loads, vibration, thermal expansion and mechanical integrity risks using appropriate engineering tools and methods.
  • Specify and support the implementation of ASME PCC-2 repair strategies for pressure equipment and piping systems, including temporary and permanent engineered repairs.
  • Execute bolted joint design and integrity assessments in accordance with ASME PCC-1.
  • Conduct AIV and FIV assessments in accordance with Energy Institute guidance and develop practical damping or mitigation solutions.
  • Support pipeline integrity management programs aligned with AS 2885, including anomaly assessment, integrity reviews, repair recommendations and integrity management plans.
  • Contribute to RBI studies, inspection planning, NDT scope development, remaining life reviews and remedial action planning.
  • Prepare, review and technically approve engineering calculations, assessment reports, repair procedures, datasheets and client deliverables in accordance with applicable standards and SRG management systems.
  • Manage client relationships, understand technical and commercial requirements, and support proposals, tenders, pricing strategies and business development activities.
  • Travel to remote customer sites to complete or support site inspections as required for engineering projects.

 

The successful applicant will ideally have: 

 

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and mandatory Chartered Engineer status, with RPEQ certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ demonstrated experience in pressure equipment mechanical integrity management and mechanical design, including vessels, tanks, piping and associated brownfield plant asset modifications.
  • You will have hands-on experience conducting Fitness-for-Service assessments in accordance with API 579, including Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 assessments, supported by strong capability in finite element analysis and piping stress analysis.
  • Experience using engineering software such as ANSYS, MSC Patran/Nastran and/or CAESAR II will be highly regarded.
  • You will possess a strong understanding of pressure vessel, tank and piping design codes, inspection data analysis, corrosion damage mechanisms and materials behaviour, together with working knowledge of ASME PCC-2 repair methods, ASME PCC-1 bolted joint integrity, AS 2885 pipeline integrity management, RBI, inspection planning and NDT methodologies.
  • Formal API 579-1 training and certifications including API 510, API 570, API 580, API 653 and/or API 571 are highly regarded but not mandatory.
