The Role
The McConnell Dowell SRG Global joint venture (Water Civil), is one of three major framework partners collaboratively delivering SA Water’s multi-billion-dollar capital delivery program to improve water and sewerage services for South Australians.
We are seeking a skilled and driven Project Engineer to play a key role in successfully delivering major water infrastructure projects across South Australia. This position will focus on applying strong engineering principles to support project execution while promoting a collaborative, high-performance environment.
As a Project Engineer you will join our growing delivery team and play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects. This position offers broad exposure across commercial management, procurement, planning, quality, safety, and stakeholder engagement, providing the opportunity to take ownership of project outcomes while working alongside experienced industry leaders on complex and rewarding projects.
MCDSRGJV has successfully delivered in excess of $600,000,000 infrastructure projects under the framework over the past six years. Our ongoing project works are primarily located north of metropolitan Adelaide, and across regional South Australia.
The successful candidate will not only be part of an outstanding team but will also gain continuous project exposure, fostering the development of technical expertise and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure cost-effective construction methodologies and identify improvement areas.
- Track project finances, review costs versus. budget, and highlight margin impacts.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and teams to resolve technical, commercial, and scheduling issues.
- Understand project scope and identify contractual risks and opportunities.
- Prepare variations, claims, and subcontract agreements.
- Plan procurement activities, organise labour and equipment for supervisors.
- Ensure materials and services meet QA requirements.
- Develop ITPs/ITCs, monitor quality plans, and ensure compliance.
- Assess risks, implement hazard controls, and support incident investigations.
- Promote a strong safety culture through pre-starts and toolbox talks.
- Review CEMP and environmental procedures before work begins.
- Maintain QA documentation, manage project closeout, and finalize defect claims.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- Five years experience in the Construction Industry (Civil, Utilities and Water Infrastructure projects highly desirable).
- Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with people at all levels, and other stakeholders as required.
- Ability to adapt and be reacting to change, and to plan accordingly
- Sound skills in using Microsoft Office software and other relevant computer applications.
- Pass a pre-employment medical and D&A
