Entry Level HR Advisor

The McConnell Dowell SRG joint venture (Water Civil), is one of three major framework partners collaboratively delivering SA Water’s multi-billion-dollar capital delivery program over the next four years to improve water and sewerage services for South Australians.
We are seeking an emerging HR professional (1–2 years’ experience) who is ready to step up from a HR Graduate or Coordinator role into a true HR Advisor position. This role requires a proactive, hands-on approach from someone who brings a mature and positive attitude to their interactions and work.
Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding & Workforce Coordination
- Lead the onboarding process of all new employees
- Provide tailored position descriptions to all new employees within the required timeframe
- Maintain and update organisational charts
- Support recruitment activities in partnership with the recruitment team
Performance & Development
- Coordinate and drive completion of probation reviews
- Support mid-year and end-of-year performance review processes
- Assist with implementation of development plans and quarterly check-ins
- Facilitate succession planning and talent mapping review sessions
Employee Relations Support
- Coach line managers on performance management processes
- Provide support during disciplinary meetings where required
- Assist with promotions and out-of-cycle salary increase processes
HR Projects & Culture
- Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives, supporting female and Indigenous participation targets
- Support training and development pathways for all employees
- Conduct site visits twice a week to strengthen engagement and culture
The successful applicant will ideally have:
- 1–2 years’ experience in a HR Graduate, HR Coordinator or similar role
- Experience within the mining, engineering, or construction industry. (desirable)
- Minimum Cert IV in HR, or a Bachelor's degree in a similar field (desirable).
- Strong administrative skills, attention to detail and able to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Eager to step into a more advisory-focused role
- Willingness to work on site at operational locations
